Specification - Residential

The Modular Wall System is comprised of composite fibre cement/EPS sandwich panels supported by our unique high tensile post system. Below you will find all the general specifications that cover our residential line of walling products. For more comprehensive information about our residential products please download the PDF link below or contact Modular Wall Systems.

This information is suitable for use in wind regions A,B & C (D upon request) AS 1170.2-2002 Loading Code. Note - In wind regions C&D we will provide site specific installation and construction advice. If you have any doubt about the wind region your wall will be in, seek advice from your local building consent authority. It is the responsibility of the owner/installer to determine the wind region, terrain category and soil conditions. The information listed here is a guide only to help assertain these factors and gain a general understanding of the different types of wall systems we offer.

Our walls provide superb sound attenuation properties. For a full understanding of what can be achieved please see the Sound Reduction page via the tab on the right.

Contemporary

Available heights from 600mm – 2100mm

The Contemporary wall is the most cost effective of the 3 styles and most commonly used in domestic boundary/screening wall applications. This style of wall will also supply great sound reduction qualities.

Contemporary walls have an overall panel thickness of 40mm and a 80mm top wall capping. Posts measure 150 (face) x 100mm (depth). Each standard section has an effective coverage of 2500mm or 2800mm, post centre to post centre. Please refer to table below for footing depths.

Traditional

Available heights from 600mm – 3000mm

The Traditional wall is most commonly used were a true masonry wall look is desired or in a commercial security/sound wall application. The wall has superb sound reduction qualities (National Acoustic Laboratory tested).

Traditional walls have an overall panel thickness of 75mm and a 125mm top wall capping. Posts measure 250mm (face) x 150 mm (depth) and designed around a single brick in width. Each standard section has an effective coverage of 2600mm, 2900mm or 3200mm, post centre to post centre. Please refer to table below for footing depths.

Estate

Available heights from 600mm – 3000mm

The Estate wall is most commonly used were a true ‘Grand’ masonry wall look is desired. The post face is equivalent to a brick and a half in width. The wall has superb sound reduction qualities (National Acoustic Laboratory tested).

Estate walls have an overall panel thickness of 75mm and a 125mm top wall capping. Posts measure 350 (face) x 235 mm (depth). Each standard section has an effective coverage of 2700mm, 3000mm or 3300mm, post centre to post centre. Please refer to table below for footing depths.

Typical Wall Construction

Wall Panels - MWS proprietary composite panels

Our wall panels are a Fibre Cement/EPS composite sandwich panel manufactured by us to rigid quality guidelines. An average panel weight is 34kg (2400 x 900) or 15.49kgs m2 with two standard panel thickness of 40 or 75mm.

Our Panels have been tested and used extensively in all cyclonic wind regions of Australia.

Panels can be stacked to achieve various wall heights i.e. an 1800mm high wall consists of 2 x 900mm panels in a ´stack´ configuration.

Duribility, Impact & Load Testing

Stringent quality and constant testing ensures your wall will comfortably withstand the riggers of daily life. Kids, ball games, bikes and even high speed impact damage from cars - we have seen it all! Our testing regime includes performing load and impact testing to conform with all major road way authorities.

Posts/Support columns

Our posts are designed and manufactured by us, in house to our tight specifications and quality standards from high tensile galvanised steel. For superior all weather performance our posts are galvanised, primed and then coated on both sides with a commercial grade primer to enhance longevity and provide a coating that will accept all modern acrylic finishes.

We manufacture our domestic posts in standard lengths of up to 4000mm long (to suit a 3000mm high wall). Your wall height, soil conditions & wind region will determine the actual post length required. As a rule of thumb - under ´normal soil and wind conditions´ whatever your wall height is above ground you require a minimum 1/3 below ground (for walls over 1500mm). Example - An 1800mm high wall will require a 2400mm long post.
